2021.07.26 Monday ～ Floss flower アゲラタム

こんにちは。

今日はアゲラタムを刺繍してみました。

アゲラタムってこんな花です。

・アザミに似た、花径1.5cmほどの細い花びらがふわふわとした綿毛のように生えている。色は紫、青、ピンク、白など

・花期が長く、色褪せない

・5月～10月頃の初夏から秋に咲くキク科の非耐寒多年草。ただし、日本の寒さでは冬越できないため一年草として扱われている

・熱帯アメリカ原産のキク科の植物

・名前は、ギリシャ語で否定を意味する「a」と「古くなる」という意味の「geras」が合わさって、「古くならない」「色褪せない」という意味がある

・和名では葉っぱの形が薬草のカッコウ（シソ科の多年草）に似ていることから霍香薊（カッコウアザミ）とも呼ばれる

・日当たりが良く、水はけのよい場所であれば、よく育つ。基本的に水は雨だけで充分。

・耐暑性も強いが、真夏は気温の暑さで株が弱体化してしまうため、半日陰での管理する。日光によく浴びさせる。日光不足になってしまうと、葉や花の色が希薄になってしまう。

・花言葉は「信頼」「幸せになる」「安楽」「永久の美」

For today's embroidery project, I stitched a floss flower. 

The floss flower is... 

- Has a thistle-like, thin flower petal about 1.5 centimeters in diameter grows like fluffy cotton. Flowers are in purple, blue, pink, white, etc. 

- Has a long flower season and flowers don't lose their color. 

- Be native to tropical America, a composite family, and a perennial plant but not cold-resistant that blooms from early summer in May to autumn in October. It cannot overwinter Japanese cold weather so it is considered an annual plant in Japan. 

- Botanical name "Ageratum" in Greek "A" means denial, and "geras" means get old combined it means "do not get old" and " do not lose its color". 

- It is called "Kakko Azami" in Japanese which the shape of the leaf resembles a medical plant "Kakko" (a perennial plant in Lamiaceae) 

- Grows well in a place where gets a lot of sun and drains well. Watering is not required. 

- Has heat tolerance but the strain weakens under hot summer heat so it needs to be placed in half shade. Needs well sunlight or else, the color of the leaf and flower get diluted. 

- The flower message is "Trust", "Be happy", "Peace", and "Eternal beauty".
