ホテイアオイ Common water hyacinth

ホテイアオイ 

葉柄が丸く膨らんで浮き袋の役目をしています。寒さに弱く日本では冬にほとんど枯れてしまいますが、繁殖力が強く、あっという間に水面を覆い尽くし、水の流れを滞らせ、水上輸送や漁業にも影響を与えることから「青い悪魔」と呼ばれて恐れられています。ブタ、カバなどの草食哺乳類の餌になります。花言葉は「揺れる心」

Common water hyacinth

The round stalks play as a float bag. Weak in cold so it doesn't survive the winter in Japan. It is called "blue devil" and feared as it has a very strong reproductive power that it quickly covers up the entire water surface and  impede the water flow, water transportation and fishing industry. But it feeds on herbivorous mammals such as pigs and hippos. The folower message is "rocking heart".
