ユリ Lily

茎が細く花が大きいため、自然に風に揺れる様子から「揺すり」と呼ばれ、それが変化して「ユリ」になったともいわれます。中でもカサブランカは純白の大輪の花を咲かせ「ユリの女王」といわれ、結婚式のブーケや贈り物としても喜ばれる花です。日本では、ヤマユリ、コオニユリ、オニユリの3種がそのユリ根を食用とするため栽培されています。オニユリ、ハカタユリなどの球根は生薬に使われ、滋養強壮、利尿、鎮咳などの効果があります。花言葉は「威厳」

Lily

The name derived from its thin stem and large flower which swings naturally to the wind that name changed into "lily". Among others, Casablanca blooms a large white flower and is said to be the "queen of lilies" which is appreciated as wedding bouquet or gift. In Japan, three types of lilies, gold-banded lily, small tiger lily and tiger lily are cultivated to eat their lily root. Bulbs of tiger lily and "hakata" lily are used for herbal medicine such as nourishing, diuresis and coughing. The flower message is "dignity".
